Laser Light

Laser light offers individuals a whole new approach to hair removal treatments. Decades ago, when electrolysis was developed, it presented itself as the first permanent hair removal solution. Today, people still find the results of electrolysis to be very satisfactory; however, as each individual hair follicle needs to be targeted individually, the process can be excruciatingly time-consuming.

Laser hair removal presents a similarly permanent hair removal method; however, the entire treatment process takes far less time than with electrolysis. Laser light can target about 10 hair follicles per second, and clinicians can treat entire areas, such as the upper lip region, in sessions as short as five minutes (large areas such as the back or legs can take up to an hour per session). With electrolysis, it's too protracted to treat all the hairs in a region in one session; with laser hair removal, you leave a session knowing that the laser light hit all the follicles in the area.

Repeated Treatments with Laser Light

Laser hair treatments can only be effective on those hair follicles that are in the anagen or active phase of growth. Hairs that are in the catagen (regressive) phase or telogen (resting) phase don't respond to laser light. While about 20% of our hair is in the active stage at any given time, that is why repeated treatments help to ensure the clinician catches all hair in its active phase eventually.
