Permanent Laser Hair Removal

Permanent laser hair removal sessions should be spaced seven to fourteen weeks apart, depending on how fast your hair grows and the recommendation made by your doctor. Hair grows in cycles, so your laser expert will advise you as to your schedule based on the pattern of hair growth in your chosen area. For example, arm hair will typically grow back less rapidly than leg hair below the knee. Underarm hair also tends to regrow faster than back hair as a rule.

No matter how your growth patterns work, however, permanent laser hair removal sessions can give you a long-lasting result on any part of the body. Most adult men and women require six to eight sessions to eradicate unwanted hair, although five treatments are usually quite enough. Those with a lot of hair (say, on the back) or slow-growing hair can require more treatments over time for a full result.

The Limitations of Permanent Laser Hair Removal

There are some limitations of the permanent hair removal process. Those with gray or blond hair will not find success with permanent laser hair removal treatments, as lasers need pigmentation to target the follicles. Now, too, those with darker skin can find success with permanent laser hair removal, without the worry of scarring. Diode lasers are designed to work effectively on those with darker skin by distinguishing between the pigment of skin and that of hair.
